Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to commonly asked questions about our products and services.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL PSYCHOTHERAPY SESSION LOOK LIKE?
There's no one-size-fits-all approach, but sessions typically involve conversation between you and I. You might discuss your concerns, explore feelings, develop coping skills, or set goals. We will tailor the session to your unique needs and goals.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE WITH MY THERAPIST?
The therapeutic relationship is crucial. If, for any reason, you don't feel comfortable with me, it's important to communicate this openly and honestly. You can discuss your concerns with me directly, or I may be able to connect you with a better suited therapist.
I'M NERVOUS ABOUT STARTING PSYCHOTHERAPY. IS THAT NORMAL?
It's completely normal to feel nervous or apprehensive before starting therapy. It's a new experience, and it's natural to have some reservations. However, I'm there to create a safe and supportive space for you. Don't hesitate to express your concerns during the initial consultation.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF PSYCHOTHERAPY?
There are many different modalities used in psychotherapy. Some common approaches include behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and interpersonal therapy (IPT). We will discuss the most suitable approach for you during the consultation.
HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR MY FIRST PSYCHOTHERAPY SESSION?
Consider what you'd like to focus on in therapy. Jot down some notes beforehand to help guide the conversation. It's also okay if you don't have a specific agenda initially. I will guide the discussion to understand your needs.
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR REGULAR THERAPY SESSIONS?
There are various therapy options to consider if you have a busy schedule. Some therapists offer shorter, more frequent sessions. Additionally, online therapy can provide flexibility for remote sessions at your convenience.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THERAPY ENDS?
Therapy is typically a collaborative process with the goal of eventually ending when you achieve your desired outcomes. We will discuss a termination plan with you, gradually reducing session frequency to ensure a smooth transition.
Cancellation Policy
We value your time and ours. Cancellations with at least 24 hours notice allow for rescheduling. Unfortunately, a full session fee applies for cancellations with less than 24 hours notice or no-shows. Contact me directly via email to cancel.
